Violet Too
UPDATE: 5-29-08~Just wanted to let you guys know that Violet took her first steps on her own today!!!! GLORY! GLORY DAY! My other dogs looked at me really funny (I can't imagine if anyone was watching me) I jumped up and down and was singing and laughing like a crazy person in the middle of the street. She immediatly fell over, but she did it on her own. She is trying to stand on her own & taking 20-25 minute walks with little help of the sling. At this rate, she'll be walking on her own within 2 weeks!
UPDATE 5-17-08~I have been taking lots of pictures of violet. I have some of her sitting up to eat on her own, very inspiring ;0) Wev'e been trying not to use the flash (weary of light seziures since she's got some neurological issues) so some of them are kind of dark. We took violet out today and socialized her with some other dogs and children. She scooted herself all over the place trying to get some attention from them!  She slept the whole way home... pooped out!! I am taking her to the vet for a recheck and will let everyone know the results.
Violet was found on the side of the road by animal control. They originally thought she had been hit by a car as she was unable to use her back legs. Animal Control contacted a BRBR volunteer and she was rushed to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. Upon further testing and xrays there are not broken bones in Violets back legs. It looks as though she has a neurological disorder and she also has a curve in her back. She is currently in a foster home and is recieving physical therapy several times a day. She attempts to walk and plays and is just as happy as any other boxer puppy. She gets very frusturated when she cannot do the things she wants to b/c her legs wont allow her to.
We are still not sure what is wrong with Violet but we are very hopeful for a full recovery. Here is some info from her foster home below:
The vet think she may possibly have toxoplasmosis, possibly a spine infection, x-rays didn't show any breaks so they are thinking neurological or an infection...

She is on medication and a lot of Physical Therapy exercises, she is trying to use her back legs when we use a towel under her belly as a sling.  She has little to no muscle/strength in her lower half.
Good news is that she is eating and drinking like a champ, is an attention hog, loves the other dogs, gets excited to see us and them, loves to explore outside as much as her body will allow, and gets frustrated when she can't do what she wants to do....so she definently hasn't given up.
Violet is on a nutritional supplement as well.
The worse case scenario is that Violet will end up a in cart. BRBR would like to start raising money NOW in case this possiblity comes true as these carts can be very exspensive and she will need at least two b/c she will continue to grow. Updates and pictures will follow in the next week with the next vet report.
