Our medical bills are extremely high, and the number of dogs needing help is on the rise this time of year.  PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OUR MEDICAL FUND. We take pride in being a rescue that never refuses an dog for medical reasons. We will get them the care they need to restore quality of life, rather than pass them over for easier cases.  This takes a very heavy toll on us financially.  CAN YOU HELP?

Please be aware there are very graphic images posted below.  We do this to illustrate the seriousness of the illness or medical conditions these particular dogs are suffering with.

Dodger

RIP Dodger you are free from pain now.

09/01/2010-- Meet Dodger, this boy was surrendered to Mtn View Animal Hospital.

He is approx 12-16 weeks old and has been burned with acid. He will be transferred to

another clinic tomorrow. They have currently sedated him with pain meds and he is on

very strong antibiotics. The vets aren't sure yet what they will have to do with his burns

but worry that he may need skin grafts to help them heal. They say he's very sweet.

09/2/2010--- We at BRBR are devasted to report that Dodger slipped away while under

sedation. We will never understand why this happens sometimes, perhaps someone up

stairs knew he had suffered enough. We would like to thank all of you who contributed to

Dodger through his chip in fund. We will be able to pay off his remaining bill and the

remaining funds will go to other dogs vet bills you see on this page and in our rescue.

Because of Dodger perhaps another sweet baby will be saved in his honor.

Olive

Estimated Vet Cost: $800.00

Current amount Raised: 0.00

Update: 08/31/2010  Olive is back home now and such a pitiful sight, but she is doing great.  She whimpers a little if she sits the wrong way or something but for the most part her leg does not phase her one bit.  She does not seem to mind the e-collar so much either which is good she will need to wear it until the sutures come out.  Dr. P. said the surgery went great he fixed the break up well and place a plate over the bones to allow the healing, he had to modify things a little as he had to use a smaller plate than he wanted due to the length of her small bone and therefore had to make adjustments with the pins, but all in all he said it went great and she was doing great post op.  She will get her sutures out in 14 days and then have a re-check of the leg in 4 weeks.  As long as the plate does not cause any infections it will stay in and they will not take it out, if however an infection forms from the plate, it will have to be removed, so fingers crossed that she will not need another surgery to remove the plate.  Regardless of that, she should be able to fully use her leg in 8 to 10 weeks with no problems he said.  Just strick rest for the next 4 weeks and we will see where we stand at the re-check.  Here are some photos of the pitiful little girl.  I think she is enjoying the extra attention more.

Abbie Too

Estimated Vet cost: $1000.00

Current amount raised: $125.00

UPDATE!!!!!!!! 08/03/2010 Abbie Too was all set to go to her new adoptive home,

Saturday July 31st. Saturday morning while she was outside, she somehow broke her

knee cap on her right rear leg. Her foster mom thinks she tripped while climbing the

stairs to the porch. With any dog, this would be a huge deal, but for Abbie Too it is

absolutely devastating because she only has 1 hind leg. Abbie will get emergency surgery

to attempt to repair her knee cap on August 4th. Her surgery will

cost approximately $500.00.She will have about 6-8 weeks of recovery after the surgery.

Please donate towards Abbie's surgery so she can go home to her forever family!

05/06/2010 Abbies surgery from the amputation is completely healed and she was getting

around great the day after surgery.  Abbie has adapted so well that you may not even

noticeshe only has 3 legs unless you look closely.  She runs, plays, boxes and has a

great time playing with the other boxers in her foster home.

03/05/2010 When our vet began surgery on Abbie's leg it was noted that there were

numerousfractures to her femur and repairing the leg was not going to be an option.

The vet felt it was more humane and felt as though Abbie would recover more quickly

if her leg was amputated. Abbie is currently resting at her foster moms house improving

daily. Please continue to keep Abbie in your prayers!

02/25/2010Abbie is a gorgeous 8 month old girl (born 6.26.09) who was surrendered to

an animal shelter in Virginia.  She appears to have already had surgery in her short life

(in October) to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but it hasn't healed properly,

probably due to not having her activity limited immediately after the surgery while she

healed.  She has developed arthritis in the knee and her tibia has rotated as a result.

She now has limited range of motion in the leg, but she can have another surgery to help

rotate the tibia back more in line with her femur and to clean some of the arthritis

from her knee.

The estimated cost of surgery is $1200.  Can you help Abbie to live pain-free again?

Andy

Estimate Vet: $4000.00

Current Amount Raised - $560.00

08/03/2010: Thank you so much for the continued donations and support for

Andy and his need for surgery. We have raised 550.00 towards his care at this time.

We continue to keep Andy as comfortable as we can until he can have his surgery!

Please keep the prayers and donations coming for this sweet boy!

06/28/2010: Andy needs major surgery on his knee caps, they aren't even close to

being where they should be.  It's a birth defect, and will require surgeries to correct in

order for him to have a normal gait and to hopefully not have to be on pain meds forever.

His patellas are literally not even sitting at the joint, so surgeries will entail carving

out a groove in the area where he should naturally have one for the patellas to

be, then relocating the patellas to their proper place.  It's possible that his ACLs

will need repair at the same time, but as of right now, he thinks they are okay.

Basically, we are looking at about $2,000 per leg.

Chaos

Estimated Vet Cost- $3700.00

Current amount raised:

$310.00

08/03/2010: Chaos is doing great. He continue to wait on his surgery b/c more funds are

needed but he is coping well and enjoying life. BRBR is holding a flea market event

August 21, 2010 in honor of Chaos and all proceedes from the FLea Market will go

towards his surgery. Please help us get Chaos the surgery he deserves so he can

find his forever family!

07/01/2010 Chaos is still taking his twice daily Rimadyl & is still coping with his

arthritis/inflammation & full ACL tears in both back knees.  He's doing OK & has a

love for playing with toys.  Chaos has lost a couple of more pounds & is at his

"vet-desired" weight. Being at a "lighter" weight is supposed to help with his back

leg/knee issues.  We had to postpone Chaos' 1st TPLO surgery back in April but

we are now ready to give it a "GO" again. Please consider donating to Chaos' 1st

TPLO surgery due to a full ACL tear.  After 8-12 weeksof recovery, Chaos will need

a 2nd TPLO surgery for his other knee- another full ACL tear. He loves to wiggle-jiggle

and having these surgeries will help his wiggles even more.

Plus, Chaos gives the best Boxer kisses ever & can repay you with both kisses & wiggles!

He is such an easy-going good-hearted big lug of a big ol' boy!

05/05/2010 We're working on setting up his 1st TPLO surgery for his left back knee.

Chaos is doing well with his weight loss and has currently lost 7 lbs.  He is taking two

Rimadyl daily (1 in the AM, 1 in the PM) which helps with the arthritis & inflammation

in his back knees but He is still needing the surgeries due to the 2 full ACL tears.

If you'd like to donate now, please do so & Chaos can owe you kisses.

03/09/2010 I will be needing 2 TPLO surgeries for my 2 back knees.  I have full

ACL tears, one on each back knee.  These tears & the arthritis & inflammation that

comes with it is causing me some pain, whether walking, sitting or laying

(& ESPECIALLY trying to climb ANYsteps/stairs- ugh! & ouch!). I'm working on losing

weight to maybe help with these issues & I'm looking for a part-time job to help pay

for these surgeries...any ideas?!?! Each surgery, which will have to be done separately,

will require an 8-12 week recovery period.

Kalila

Estimated Vet cost: $1200.00

Current amount raised: $965.00

05/14/2010 Kalila stump is healing great . We are still doing the dressing changes ,

despite her protests about being still :o) Sheis a busy girl. She uses the bandage as a

cushion & walks/ runs/ hops/ rolls & plays  with a slight limp, LOL.  She is very much

a normal puppy & her special need is hardly an issue for her , even now.

05/10/2010 UPDATE: Kalila is doing well..
She is over 5lbs now, eating solid food & walking. She is learning how to play with the

"big dogs" & is full of personality. We contine to take her to the vet daily for dressing

changes & her nub is still healing . We will be checking into prosthetic options  to

see if we can save her leg . she will have to grow a bit before that can be determined.

03/20/2010UPDATE: Kalilah is over 2 lbs now and is thriving and still doing great,

her front toe is looking a little better & her nub is still looking good. Please continue

to keep this baby in your prayers

03/14/2010 UPDATE:Kalilah appears to be thriving. She is being fed every 2-3 hours

& has gained an ounce. We had her leg checked, dressed and wrapped which is getting

done every day. The vet feels the most likely cause of her foot coming off was an

unbiblical cord wrapped around the foot during birth. Kalilahs leg will require amputation,

but she is far too young at this point. We need to raise funds for this now so her

leg can be amputated as soon as she is old enough.

03/13/2010 Meet Kalila ("darling, beloved")
This sweet little baby is 7 days old. Kalila was born with her foot "raw" sometime in

the last 7 days her foot has fallen off.  Her previous owners have been bottle feeding

the pups because their mom got sick & is currently at a local vet. The family however,

cannot afford to care for this baby and doesn’t have the time to care for such a special

needs pup so they asked one of our volunteers for assistance to get this baby the help

she needs. She will be seeing one of our vets ASAP and we will update you about her

treatment. Please consider donating to her vetcare, BRBR is in desperate need of

donations for ALL of our special Boxers. Kalila thanks you in advance!

Kalila would like to thank the following contributors:

Violet- RIP

On July 20th we had to say goodbye to our little dynamo on wheels. She was in pain and suffering so

those closest to her surrounded her with love and she passed peacefully across the bridge. She was an amazing

ambassador of the boxer spirit and was loved by all of those who met or even just heard about her.

We will miss you Violet you were an inspiration and you will never be forgotten. --- BRBR

Dontations made in memory of Violet Thank you for continuing her legacy!
