Our medical bills are extremely high, and the number of dogs needing help is on the rise this time of year.  PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OUR MEDICAL FUND. We take pride in being a rescue that never refuses an dog for medical reasons. We will get them the care they need to restore quality of life, rather than pass them over for easier cases.  This takes a very heavy toll on us financially.  CAN YOU HELP?

Please be aware there are very graphic images posted below.  We do this to illustrate the seriousness of the illness or medical conditions these particular dogs are suffering with.

Marleigh

Estimated vet cost: $1,000

Current amount raised: $878

2/2/12 Marleigh continues to recover nicely in her foster home. Marleigh is starting to bear weight on her leg and is even having small amounts of supervised play time with her foster brother Wallie.  Marleigh still has at least four weeks of recovery to go but this girl is a fighter and is expected to make a full recovery. Please

1/26/12 Surgery went well, she did not do so well waking up she was in a lot of pain, so they had to give her something to help her sleep. Fortunately the vet says that puppies this young heal very quickly. The vet techs at Eastwood are taking turns holding her paw. This girl needs our thoughts and prayers!

1/26/12 This sweet baby has a broken right femur and hip bone. The fracture is approximately 4-5 days old. Marleigh is only 7 weeks old and will require surgery to repair her fracture along with a long rehabilitation that will last at least 8 weeks.
Please donate towards Marleigh's vet bill:

 Harmonie

Estimated vet cost: $1,000

Current amount raised: $80.00

1/14/12 Harmonie had her surgery yesterday and is doing great! She will be able to go to her foster mom's in the next few days.

1/11/12 The ball of Harmonie's femur is shattered. She will have to have surgery to have it removed. Once it heals the muscles will take over the function of the ball. She is so young - we all need to keep this little girl in our thoughts and prayers

1/8/12 Harmonie is now officially a BRBR baby and will get the vet care she needs. She was found on the side of the highway in Pickens, SC with an injured leg. The lady that saved her has had her for about five days and says she has begun to yelp in pain due to her leg. Even though she is obviously in pain, Harmonie is very sweet with her 18 month old daughter and other two dogs.

Please donate towards Harmonie's vet bill:

Callie -RIP

12/23/11 It is with a heavy heart we must announce that sweet Callie has crossed the bridge. She was loved by many in the short time she was with us. Rest peacefully and run free sweet Callie.

12/20/11 Sweet Callie was rescued by BRBR about 1 week ago along with her 2 brothers and mom, Aubrey. Callie has always been the "calmest" of the puppies but yesterday began to not want to eat. All through the day yesterday she was hand fed water, glucose and meds and one of BRBR's volunteers stayed up with her through the night to feed and check on her every 15 minutes. Although Callie is still holding her own at this time she is extremely ill. The vet thinks Callie may have Parvo. All the puppies are being treated for Parvo "just in case." Callie is currently at the Emergency Vet and will remain there until her condition improves. Callie was already underweight when BRBR saved her weighing only a little over 2lbs. This girl needs your prayers BIG TIME to survive! Please also pray for her brothers that they remain healthy! Please consider donating towards Callie's vet expenses so BRBR can continue to help her and help save others like her!

OZ

 Estimated Vet Cost -$1000.00

Current amount raised $375.00

09/29/2011   Oz was hit by a car and dragged underneath where he suffered burns, several abrasions, and an injury to his left cornea.  He ended up at a shelter and was taken to his foster home on Saturday.  Oz’s foster mom took him to the vet on 9/26 where he was checked out.  The vet is concerned about Oz’s eye injury in that he could lose the function of his left eye.  Oz has been referred to an phthalmologist vet.  Oz needs medical treatment to keep his eye and vision.  His current medical bill is $92.92 and he will need more for the specialist.

Please donate towards Oz's vet bill:

10/3/2011 - Anna is 4 days out of surgery & doing well. The tendon was reattached & the surgery went as well as the Dr could have hoped.

She has incision on the outside & inside of her leg .  The underarm incision could not be closed all the way ...it was already open , due lacerations &  "road rash" from the accident .  But both seem to be healing very well.

She still isn't using the leg at this point , there is still a good bit of edema in the elbow. We do physical therapy several times a day to help stretch the muscle back out , so that when the bones & tendon's heal, she will feel more comfortable using it.

We are optimistic at this point that we have saved the leg & that she will have good use of it.  She will remain on restricted activity & leash walking only for 8 weeks.  We will reevaluated the leg at that time to see if anything else need to be done.

10/01/2011 - Anna just had her surgery and everything is back where it should be ...Yippee ! She got everything stretched back , tendon  IN PLACE...AND she already has motion to 90 degrees ...this is AWESOME. The bone that broken off she left attached to the tendon & replaced it where it went &  it was wrapped/ sewn  in place with some sort of tissue from a pig she said it should help calcify & keep it in place. She was VERY excited & said she couldn't had hoped for a better result.

09/22/2011 - Anna is a 1 year old Boxer who BRBR pulled late Thursday 9/22/11 from the Greenville, SC shelter. She was hit by a car & needed immediate medical attention. X-rays showed she has a definite fracture on her elbow area & the tendon is detached from the bone. She has 2 smaller fractures as well on the same leg. She was given pain meds & antibiotics through the weekend & kept comfortable. She will be traveling to our vet in NC Monday 9/26/11 so he can address the fractures & perform surgery.

Rocky Road

Estimated Vet Cost : $2000

Current amount raised: $2120.00

Thank you Contributors!!!

9-5-2011--Rocky continues to do well. He remains on crate rest while his leg heals but his incision site is looking really good. He has minimal drainage from it. He does have some swelling around the site which is still normal due to the rods and pins that were placed.  Rocky Road goes back to the vet next week for an update. Thank you for all the continued prayers!

8-25-2011--Rocky Roads incision site has some puss and a lot of drainage present and he has been running a fever and has not had much of an appetite. Today the fever is down, he is eating again and they have been flushing his leg twice a day now to keep the infection from settling in.  The vet has suggested they keep him a several more days as they don't want to send him to a foster home and things get worse. Everyone is so happy and relieve that Rocky Road has such a will to live and is so loving during his care at the vets office. During Rocky's surgery, his leg had to be re-broken because the bones had already started to fuse together and muscle atrophy had begun. The procedure was extremely extensive and painful for Rocky. With the additional medical problems Rocky Road is experiencing, his medical bills are going to be higher than we thought.  Please continue to pray for Rocky Road and pass him on to your friends and family for prayers and donations!
BRBR and Rocky Road thank you!

8-19-2011-- Rocky remains at the vets office but continues to recover nicely. As you can see in his most recent pictures he has a large splint on his leg for support and rods present as well. He remains in pain but his spirits are high and we know this young boy will recover! We will update over the weekend about his recovery time and what to expect over the next few months!

8/17/2011--Rocky Road has his surgery yesterday and is recovering nicely. He remains in a lot of pain and
the vet is continousouly keeping him on IV pain medications. He had a pin and rod place in his leg and has a large splint on at this time to attempt to keep his leg in place. Please continue to pray for this boy!

8/16/2011--  Sweet Rocky is an 8 mo old boxer who was saved by a BRBR yesterday afternoon. A good Samaritan contacted BRBR about this boy. He was hit by a car earlier in the week and had an obvious fracture to his rear leg but the family could not afford to fix it. His fracture is severe and will require immediate surgery. From what the vet states his femur (large bone in his leg) is fractured (compound fracture) and some pieces have shattered. This poor boy has suffered with this fracture for almost a week before BRBR saved him. Please help us raise money for him and say a TON of prayers that he will do just fine!

Arabella

Estimated Vet Cost : $800

Current amount raised: $1515.00

Thank you Contributors!!!

8/16/2011--WOW! Arabella went to BRBR's petco event on Saturday and now weighs 59lbs. She has gained 18lbs in 11 days. It is amazing what love and food will do for a wonderful animal! Her foster family says her personality is coming out more everyday and she acts like a puppy bouncing around.  They say she is playing a little more each day with their 3 boxers!

08/09/11-- What a difference a week makes! Arabella is doing really well in her new foster home and has already gained 10lbs in 1 WEEK!!! She does have a small hot spot that is being treated. She also has a bump  on her leg but the vet feels this is from her recent rabies shot. She is doing so great and we are thrilled to have her on the mend.

08/02/2011 Arabella was seen by one of our vets today and thank goodness she is heart-worm negative!!! The vet said this is one of the worst cases of emaciation he has ever seen.  She has hookworms and has very bad diarrhea but the vet has given her medication for both of those. We also had blood work completed on her and we are waiting on the results. What is so sad about this case is it has been made clear that Arabella isn't emaciated b/c she is sick or has some terrible disease...She is emaciated b/c the one person in the world who was supposed to care for her and love her tied her up outside and starved her. Thank you to everyone who has donated and sent prayers for this girl!

08/01/2011-- Arabella just came into our rescue as you can see she is extremely skinny and can barely stand. She had be be given water with a syringe as she could not lap it herself. We have no idea what her vet costs will be but we know they will probably range around at least $250.00 and up. Arabella's neighbor brought her in to shelter she was tied up outside and he was told to bring it in because he doesn’t have time. She needed vet care right away so BRBR was able to step up and help. Please help us help her by
donating the funds she will need to get well.
